Indian Textile is Combination of India's complex social structure. A cultural & religious life strewn down with rituals, ceremonies & festivals which has dictated an elaborate Textile vocabulary.
Our Textile tours create a rich weave that reflects India as a Land of Wisdom, mystique & romance and provides a window to the world's most ancient civilization. The Rich brocades of Benares to the Jewel - like mirror work of Rajasthan & Gujarat. The hidden techniques of the master weavers & embroiders that has been handed down through generations. All the Indian Tours include some of the countries finest monuments. The Tours are so designed that you don't have to be a textile expert or dedicated artist to enjoy the full wide programmes and friends or partners are very welcome.
Which tour you chose is the direction that you at that time wish to take up. For instance one year on the Rajasthan Painting tour I had a surface embroiderer, a quilter a silversmith, a childrens book illustrator and a photographer; everybody else was a painter.
We mostly have a few people from other countries on every tour which adds flavour and makes for an interesting social mix. It is stimulating travel, with most people making firm friends, it is the rule that almost every group stays in touch and we meet up socially from time to time.
Travel is a great source of inspiration. We leave our securities behind us and see with fresh eyes. Never underestimate the creative energy it can produce and the lasting pleasure such travel bestows.
India is a slow countries to travel in so we have our own transport throughout, which means we can go at our own pace.
I make use of good hotels, not always five star (which can be the same the world over) but three or four star. Occasionally we stay in more basic hotels, this will either be due to lack of availability or that that is the only hotel in the area where we want to be. They have all been carefully chosen to give variety and to experience different aspects and ambiences of the country. Some are colonial in feeling or are maybe Havelies (these are noblemens residences) and on some of the tours we stay in Palaces and Forts.
India, the country which boasts of its rich culture has to its credit the diversity in its , costumes, traditions. Here, we take you to an Ethnic Textile tour which familiarizes you with the diversity that we have in terms of costumes.
