The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli is situated on the western coast of India between the parallels of 20o and 20o25' of latitude north and between the meridian 72o50' and 73o15' of longitude. The territory is surrounded on the west, north and east by Valsad district of Gujarat and in the south, and south east by Thana and Nasik districts of Maharashtra. Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a Union Territory in western India. Run by a Lieutenant Governor, it has Silvasa as its capital. It lies on the north bank of the Daman Ganga River. The major language of this union territory is Gujarati. The main economy in Dadra and Nagar Haveli is manufacturing. The taxes are very low here as there is no excise duty. Places to Visit :-

Vanganga Lake and Island Lake, Dadra :-
It is a lovely lake garden, where more than 25 Hindi feature films have been picturised. The rustic wooden bridges, jogging paths, thatched huts and paddle boats make it an ideal picnic spot. A 20-km drive from Khanvel is Dudhni where the large waterfront of river Damanganga provides breathtaking view of the water spread over Madhuban Dam.

The Tribal Cultural Museum :-
The tribal cultural museum at Silvassa is an ideal place for those who are too lazy to do some actual exploring. It houses a good collection of masks, musical apparatus, fishing gadgets and life-size statues.

Vandhara Udyan, Silvassa :-
A riverside park with beautifully laid lawns, perfect for picnic - buffs. Quaint pavilions provide shelter to visitors.

Khanvel :-
situated at a distance of 20 km from Silvassa. The drive to Khanvel is lined with tall trees on both sides of the road. This serene landscape, surrounded by lush green hills, beckons nature lovers with its rolling meadows and native-styled cottages amidst terraced gardens. The calm and gentle Sakartod River flows past Khanvel.

Pipariya Udyan, Silvassa :-
This park with roaring waterfalls, misty cascades, rustic stone walls, twin arches, tiny kiosks and vast emerald lawns, is really a delight to behold.

Tourist Complex, Dudhani :-
Another 20 km drive from Khanvel, is Dudhani where the large waterfront of river Damanganga, provides a breathtaking view of the water-spread of Madhuban Dam. Adventurers can kayak, canoe and speed boat. For trekking enthusiasts, nature trails have been specially laid out to take them, right into the heart of the forest.

By Air

Although Dadra & Nagar Haveli does not have an airport within its territory, the nearest airport Mumbai is only 164kms away.

By Road

National Highway No8 (Western Express Highway) just pass by the region. The state capital Silvassa is well connected with the important cities of western India.

By Rail

The nearest railhead is Vapi. Important trains regularly serve this railways station.
