Ladakh (Little Tibet) and the Great
Golden Temple of Amritsar.


Day 1: Arrival / Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi our representative will meet you and assist you at the airport with your luggage and take you to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2: Delhi

After breakfast take a guided tour of the capital city of India. The major tourist attractions of Delhi that will be included in your sightseeing tour as-    New Delhi This city designed and built by the British in the 1920's - a city of wide boulevards impressive Government buildings, green parks and gardens.  First you will visit two monuments from Delhi's past Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. Then your drive takes you along the ceremonial avenue, Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate and Parliament House.  Old Delhi: An ancient walled city.  Here you will see Red Fort, the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire: Raj Ghat, the memorial site of the Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; and Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colourful market of the old city. Return to the hotel for a night stay

Days 3-4: Leh

Morning flight to Leh.Arrival in Leh check in hotel and take the rest of the day to relax and acclimatise to the altitude (3,505m). The next day we have a sightseeing tour of the city, Shankar Gompa and the ruined 17th Century palace, then drive across the river to see the Stok Palace.

Day 5: Leh - Ladakh Gompas
A full day of sightseeing to visit the gompas of Shey, Thiksey, Taktak and Hemis where we experience the annual festival to honour the anniversary of Guru Padma Sambhav’s birth.

Day 6: Leh - Alchi

We follow the Indus River westwards to Alchi village and visit the historic Alchi Gompa. On our way back to Leh visit the Rizong Gompa.

Day 7: Leh to Sarchu

We drive to Sarchu crossing the 5,328 m Taglang La along the way. This will be a long day of driving, but with spectacular scenery. Tonight we stay at a tented camp, especially erected to cater for travellers along this seasonal highway.

Day 8: Sarchu to Jispa

We continue our drive to Jispa, crossing another high pass at Baralacha (4,891m) with spectacular views of the Himalaya range. We wind our way down the mountain to overnight at a small hotel.

Day 9: Jispa to Manali

Today we cross the last of the high passes at Rohtang (3,977m) descending to the Kullu Valley and the picturesque town of Manali.

Day 10: Manali

Today is free to explore Manali at our own pace. There is also a very colourful Tibetan bazaar where many great bargains can be found.

Day 11: Manali to Palampur via Mandi
We follow the scenic Kullu Valley along the Beas River to Palampur via Mandi. Along the way we visit the unusual Nagar Castle.

Days 12-13: Palampur to Dharamshala

We head back into the mountains as we drive to Dharamshala, once a British Hill Station and now the home of the exiled Dalai Lama. Here we walk to the churches, monasteries and temples of this “Little Lhasa”. Our second day is at leisure.

Day 14: Dharamshala to Amritsar

We continue our journey by road to Amritsar, the holy capital of the Sikh religion. This afternoon we visit the border with Pakistan to witness the now notorious flag lowering ceremony and the changing of the guard at the border crossing.

Day 15: Depart Amritsar

Today begins with a morning tour to the Golden Temple. After dinner we have a late check out from our hotel then transfer to the airport.
